2023, LSC, Statement, Item 5: Status and Application of the Five United Nations Treaties on Outer Space

Distinguished delegates, we believe information sharing under Article XI of the Outer Space Treaty plays an increasingly critical role in ensuring safe and sustainable space activities.

In this regard, we appreciate the non-paper from the Delegations of Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and The Netherlands underlining the need for dedicated tools and practices for enhanced information sharing under Article XI of the Outer Space Treaty and suggesting discussions in the working group on the status and application of the five united nations treaties.

We noted that other Delegations supported this proposal for the development of an information submission form in their national statements under this agenda item, and we are pleased to inform the Committee that over the past year, together with the Space Generation Advisory Council, we have been conducting related work that may be relevant for these discussions.

If this may be of interest to Delegations, we would be pleased to share more details when deemed appropriate.
